Tweetup 2.0 Apologies

Posted by toAsTySnAcKs on May 1, 2009 in Uncategorized |

Before my other posts about triangle tweetup 2.0 begin, I wanted to write this post apologizing to every tweeps and tweepettes ;O) at the event last night.  Hopefully this will summarize my failures of the night in hopes that maybe you could find it in ur little twitter hearts to forgive @ToAsTySnAcKs.

One of the biggest tweetups happened last night and it was all thanks to @WayneSutton @GinnySkal @kbodnar32 @theRab @dgtlpapercuts, sponsors, and @Bronto for having us crash thier pad!  In no way shape or form should any tweep give me any credit for anything that Tweetup/Twestival/MiscTwitter events have done.  (even if you heard otherwise)

Shortly After @WayneSutton did the intros, the “Panel:  Brands, Business and Twitter” started.  Meanwhile, I was hanging out to the side with @comcipher @ffalias and @mammalpants.  I tried to stay nearby so I could hear the presentations and I also had to introduce Iconfactory later on.  However, it was so ridiculously hard to hear anything anyone on the panel was saying, and I was inside the room. One thing lead to another (that’s what she said :-p)  and I was in my own little bubble talking to tweeps. Then we realize that we’re being ridiculously rude (@WayneSutton helped give us that lightbulb moment) and we leave the room. :-/

I figure I should go get beer, but on the way I started talking to people.  Next thing you know, I remembered I was supposed to introduce Iconfactory!! EPIC FAIL! Here is one of the greatest moments in Raleigh Tweetup History! Iconfactory demo-ing for the first time ever their Twitterific 2.0!!  By the time I got to the presentation room, they already started.  And I also missed @GinnySkal and @mammalpants handing down the Crown/Sashes because I was playing Twitter Twister.  :O(

Tweetup was coming to a close, so my tweeps told me to tell everyone that people are going to Tylers.  Sure enough I went over to go tell them, got ADD, and started talking to people!  @comcipher had to come remind me what I should have been doing.  Soon thereafter, I was also supposed to get chairs for our table and wound up talking to @photomonger and @btoomes, when AGAIN @comcipher had to remind me what I should have been doing.

Here’s the thing:  I get very excited about things and when I do, I hyperfocus.  So one minute I’ll be doing something and the next something grabs my attention and I COMPLETELY forget about what was going on before.  So its good if you’re on the hyperfocus side and bad when you’re not.  It’s great for work :O) cause I use all my energy on things that I love so then I rock it! But doesn’t work over to well with people :-/  It is a switch that I can’t turn off :-/

  • Sorry to the Raleigh Tweetup Crew @WayneSutton @GinnySkal @kbodnar32 @theRab @dgtlpapercuts for being scatter brained and not being dependable
  • Sorry to the Panelist Group @DavidBThomas @RaleighGrande @theRab @kbodnar32 for being rude during your presentation
  • Sorry to Iconfactory for missing out on the best opportunity ever to introduce you :-/
  • Sorry to @GinnySkal and @mammalpants for missing your last minutes of reign as Tweetup King and Queen.
  • Sorry to @comcipher for him having to babysit me.
  • Sorry to all the people that I got to talk to last night that were on my Hyperfocus side one minute and not the next :O(
  • Sorry to those that I didn’t get to meet and wish I had but I guess you didn’t have to endure my ADD.

If there’s anyone I missed, I’m sorry :o(

but…. you still ROCK! no need to apologize. Glad you had a great time and that’s what matters.

What I didn’t read in this post or see any pictures is how the twitter twister game went?

Melba,
I apologize for never making it downstairs to see Twitter Twister.

The fact of the matter is last night’s Tweetup was tons of fun, but it was completely overwhelming. There were so many cool tweeps who we all wanted to meet and catch up with. I too was guilty of talking during the panel. I was tucked in the corner, and I didn’t mean to talk through it. (our intentions are always good right) but then I got chatting with one of my chick tweeps and before I knew it we were on topics of love, journalism, media, blogging and there was no way to stop. We could have rounded the corner to be all the way removed from the panel room, but alas, we didn’t. And for that I am sorry.

Your post-tweetup apology is sweet. I hope Twitter Twister was as fun as it sounded.

Hey we think everything went pretty well considering how much chaos there was. Corey, Talos and I had a great time and wanted to say thanks for allowing us to come demo Twitterrific 2. We got a great deal of positive feedback and are more excited than ever to get this software into the hands of users.

I think the Tweetup was a smashing success. Well done!

I apologize for not thanking you for the awesome twitter queen sash. I’m thinking about making a tiara for the next queen!
